Thrifty Thursday [320]

Happy Thursday! Hope you're all having a great week so far. We've been busy at my house lately. We managed to clean the gutters and now I'm going to start the process of pulling out some ivy and other odds and ends if it ever stops raining. We're still waiting to hear about when my hubby's grandfather's funeral will be (he passed over the weekend). Demon dog and cat are doing well, still causing mischief but that's a given.

WoW [366] - Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson

Author: Margaret Rogerson
Release Date: June 4th, 2019

All sorcerers are evil. Elisabeth has known that as long as she has known anything. Raised as a foundling in one of Austermeer’s Great Libraries, Elisabeth has grown up among the tools of sorcery—magical grimoires that whisper on shelves and rattle beneath iron chains. If provoked, they transform into grotesque monsters of ink and leather. She hopes to become a warden, charged with protecting the kingdom from their power.

Then an act of sabotage releases the library’s most dangerous grimoire. Elisabeth’s desperate intervention implicates her in the crime, and she is torn from her home to face justice in the capital. With no one to turn to but her sworn enemy, the sorcerer Nathaniel Thorn, and his mysterious demonic servant, she finds herself entangled in a centuries-old conspiracy. Not only could the Great Libraries go up in flames, but the world along with them.

As her alliance with Nathaniel grows stronger, Elisabeth starts to question everything she’s been taught—about sorcerers, about the libraries she loves, even about herself. For Elisabeth has a power she has never guessed, and a future she could never have imagined.

Thrifty Thursday [319]

Happy Thursday everyone! There's been a lot of stuff going on this past week, so I'm going to just hope things calm down soon. Here's a picture of my fur baby the other night. She falls asleep in the oddest positions and her eyes open every now and then *shakes head*

WoW [365] - Bridal Boot Camp Meg Cabot

Author: Meg Cabot
Series: Little Bridge Island 0.5
Release Date: May 28th, 2019

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Meg Cabot comes the first story in her Little Bridge Island series—which also includes an excerpt from her forthcoming new full-length novel No Judgments!

Looking for a tropical escape?

Welcome to Little Bridge, one of the smallest—and most beautiful—islands in the Florida Keys, home to sandy white beaches, salt-rimmed margaritas, stunning sunsets, and some of the quirkiest—but also kindest and most resourceful—people you’ll ever meet.

Physical trainer Roberta “Rob” James moved to Little Bridge hoping she’d found paradise, but things haven’t turned out quite as she’d hoped. The closest Rob has come to her “happily ever after” is happy hour at the Mermaid CafĂ© with her buddy Bree, the bartender slash waitress who’s got romance problems of her own.

But Rob’s situation suddenly changes when sheriff’s deputy Ryan Martinez accidentally enrolls in her bridal boot camp class. Turning mush into metal in time for the big day is Rob’s passion (because even the happiest bride could use a little toning).

But what happens when a guy who’s all mush meets a girl who’s all metal?

They discover they have a lot to learn . . . about each other, themselves, and the island paradise they’ve come to call home.
Why I am waiting:
This novella sounds so cute! I can't turn down a yummy man in uniform.

Thrifty Thursday [318]

Happy Thursday! Hope you're all having a great week so far <3 It's been pretty busy on my end so I've been quiet. I'm not sure if I ever updated yall on my sleep issues but melatonin quit working so I finally went to the doctor for my not able to fall asleep issue. She put me on a pill and it seems to be working for the most part, I've only had it not work one night so far during the 2 weeks I've been on it. The only bad thing is that I'm not sure if my brain will get back to my sleep schedule before she takes me off it. Fingers crossed!

Ivy Gamble has never wanted to be magic. She is perfectly happy with her life—she has an almost-sustainable career as a private investigator, and an empty apartment, and a slight drinking problem. It's a great life and she doesn't wish she was like her estranged sister, the magically gifted professor Tabitha.

Why I am waiting:
This one has me intrigued. I seem to gravitate towards books with detective type lead characters and magic mixed in. Fingers crossed this is a great read :)

WoW [363] - The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren

Author: Christina Lauren
Series: Standalone
Release Date: May 14th, 2019

Olive is always unlucky: in her career, in love, in…well, everything. Her identical twin sister Amy, on the other hand, is probably the luckiest person in the world. Her meet-cute with her fiancĂ© is something out of a romantic comedy (gag) and she’s managed to finance her entire wedding by winning a series of Internet contests (double gag). Worst of all, she’s forcing Olive to spend the day with her sworn enemy, Ethan, who just happens to be the best man.

Olive braces herself to get through 24 hours of wedding hell before she can return to her comfortable, unlucky life. But when the entire wedding party gets food poisoning from eating bad shellfish, the only people who aren’t affected are Olive and Ethan. And now there’s an all-expenses-paid honeymoon in Hawaii up for grabs.

Putting their mutual hatred aside for the sake of a free vacation, Olive and Ethan head for paradise, determined to avoid each other at all costs. But when Olive runs into her future boss, the little white lie she tells him is suddenly at risk to become a whole lot bigger. She and Ethan now have to pretend to be loving newlyweds, and her luck seems worse than ever. But the weird thing is that she doesn’t mind playing pretend. In fact, she feels kind of... lucky.
Why I am waiting:
It's been awhile since I read a CLauren book and this one looks entertaining! It sounds like an enemies to lovers type trope which I always find amusing.
