Melissa's Review:

Magic Triumphs is book 10 in the Kate Daniels series. It's a bitter sweet moment for me, I can't believe this series is over. Before I forget, if you haven't read Hugh's story (Iron and Magic) I'd strongly recommend you read that before you read this book. If you don't, you'll get some spoilers for his novel if you wind up reading that later on.

Kate Daniels is back and we're gearing up for the big showdown with her and her father Roland. Kate's world has changed now that her son Conlan is born. We fast forwarded a bit in time since the end of the previous book since Conlan is walking around and talking and causing mischief but we do see glimpses of that time period we missed. I was extremely amused that Kate wound up being one of those hovering mothers that worried over every little bump. I loved seeing Curran with his son though, he's a natural and laid back until you mess with his family then he'll rip you to shreds type of parent. We get to see some of the Pack life, and several familiar faces we haven't seen in a bit appear. *cough* Hugh *cough* Everyone is rallying to help support Kate's side which I figured would happen since they all don't want Roland to win. The big surprise for me was Curran's twist in the story but I was intrigued to see how if it would help or hinder them later in the book. Anyway we're seeing movement from Roland on the war and then all of a sudden a new power player comes to town. He wants Kate and has more power than anything she's seen before. Kate and her father, Roland are having to cooperate since there's another big bad in town, and this beast of a man wants to dominate everything.

Magic Triumphs was full of unexpected moments and I'm so sad the series is over. I'm going to hope there will be more books in this world some time soon since I know I'm not alone in being addicted to this series. Everything was extremely well done and it wrapped up all the loose ends I could think of. If you're a fan of Urban Fantasy series you won't want to put down, you need to try this series.
