Melissa's Review:

The Governess Game is book 2 in the Girl Meets Duke series. Tessa Dare is on my must read list and after falling in love with book 1 of this series I knew I had to grab this installment. That cover is stunning and the writing style is swoon-worthy as always.

Our leading lady, Alexandra Mountbatten walks into Duke Chase Reynaud's house only to walk out with a job offer. His wards, 2 orphan girls in his care until he can find a school that won't boot them out for misbehavior keep scaring off all of the governess's he has hired. He's about at his wits end but is relieved when Alexandra (aka Alex) decides to take the position. Alex realizes the girls are just wanting to be loved and not foisted onto another new person/place. Their trust is hard to earn and the girls had me laughing out loud at some of their antics. Chase is trying to keep his distance and not be tempted by Alex but one shared kiss is all it takes. He is determined to not have attachments but with his feelings for Alex growing I was interested in seeing how their story would end.

The Governess Game is a lovely historical romance that will sweep you off your feet. Both of our lead characters have issues in their past that haunts them and they wound up suiting one another really well after they decided to stop fighting the attraction. I have to give major kudos since I normally don't like children in books but these hellions were highly entertaining. Alexandra is not the typical character and had me laughing at some of her methods in teaching the kids. If you're a fan of historical romance novels you have to try this book.
