Melissa's Review:
In Bed with a Highlander is book one in the McCabe Trilogy. I loved MBanks' other Historical Romance that I read so when I went to the bookstore I had to pick up a few of her other ones. I enjoyed this one so much I already finished book two, so be on the lookout for that review next week. The book starts out with Mairin Stewart, the illegitimate daughter of the king living in a convent. She's there for safety and has been there for years in the effort to hide from the men that would wish to capture her and claim a place to the throne. Her luck doesn't last, a group of men storm the convent and take her as their prisoner. Along her way to their keep, she protects a little boy that was also taken prisoner but they manage to escape with a few injuries. Mairin and the boy make their way back to his keep with the only downside being when they arrive, she's forced to stay there.
Ewan McCabe, the leader of the keep is a grumbly man that expects to be listened to. With his son safely back in the keep, his focus is now on Mairin. He's growing to enjoy Mairin's company but once he finds out who she really is, he gets his way and they wind up married. I was happy to see their feelings continue to grow as the novel progressed. I liked Ewan's character, he's so protective but Mairin is so headstrong it's quite hilarious to see the duo together when they both have their mind set to do something.
In Bed with a Highlander was a delight to read and left me wanting the next book immediately. It's been a long while since I've read one of the kidnap the lady type reads and this one worked really well for me. I think I need to go ahead and buy the rest of Maya Banks' other Historical romances soon. If you haven't read this series and enjoy Historical Romance I suggest you pick it up!

Banks is always good :)
