Melissa's Review:

Shadow Rider is book one in the Shadow series. I've been wanting to read another CFeehan book for awhile now, but most of her series are in the 20+ so I've been intimidated. When I saw Shadow Rider was book one in a brand new series, I knew I had to grab it. It's full of delicious alpha males with some paranormal abilities and set in a close-knit family environment. Basically, right up my alley.

We start Shadow Rider by meeting Francesca Cappello, a girl on the run from something in her past. She comes to live near her friend Joanna and work at Joanna's uncle's deli. She goes there to interview when her path crosses Stefano Ferraro, the leading brother in the Ferraro family. Instantly taken with her, he ensures she has the job she wanted and makes sure she stays out of the cold by giving her his coat and a bit of money. You can tell instantly Stefano really likes her, and you get the alpha male that is protective of his woman vibe from the start. A little background on Stefano and his family is that they're filthy rich and followed by the paparazzi. They're also Shadow Riders, which is where the paranormal element kicks in, they have the ability to ride shadows which is such a unique ability that I've never seen before. The Ferraros tend to make problems go away for money by killing their marks using their powers. This is not a family you want to cross, but if you're in their close-knit group you're the family forever.

Stefano is a character you're either going to love or hate depending on your views of alpha males. In my case, since I love the alpha males that are super protective of their loved ones, I wound up loving this book. The other thing I loved about this was the paranormal aspects that were so unique, it really kept my interest. All in all, if you're a CFeehan fan or Paranormal Romance with alpha males, I think you'd love this new series!

Okay you guys, I've tried one Jim Frangione narrated book before and couldn't get through it. It was the very first audiobook I tried, so I'm thinking I just wasn't used to audiobooks at the time. I'm going to have to go back to it now and try it again since I wound up loving his narration of Shadow Rider!

  1. I really need to try this author!

  2. They ride shadows? Fascinating.

  3. oh I had a blast with this one!!! And I loved the hero quite a bit, but then I adore my alpha males hehe and the world building was so fascinating. Glad you liked it so much.

    1. I had my eye on it then saw your review and knew I had to get it :D

  4. What a neat concept. I remember seeing the blurb for this one and thinking it was very interesting. So glad that you enjoyed it! I'm with you, if it's a protective Alpha male, then I'm in.

  5. I have this on my list! It sounds so good. Glad the narration worked this time around for ya.

  6. I thought the shadow riding was really different. I'm excited to see where Feehan is going to take this skill.

    1. Oh yes, I'll be interested in seeing which person's book is next!!

  7. I can hear you on being intimidated by large running series. I know I am. And for the narrator, it might be that he's picked up a thing or two too. I'm curious to hear if you go back to that first narration if you liked it or not now. Oooor, it could have been the writing you were picking up on and not his voice work. I'd be curious to hear what you think now.

    1. I just remember trying to get through one of the BDB books on audio and laughing every time they cussed, which was a TON.
