A to Z - Movies

A to Z Challenge - M

I'm always intrigued by books turning into movies. I hope this one turns out well, I have a feeling it will make me ugly cry though.

Check out our previous A-to-Z posts: J, K, L

The movie I'm talking about is Me Before You. It will be out in theaters on June 3rd, 2016.

Here's the book version in case you want to read it before the movie comes out!

Me Before You - Jojo Moyes

Do yall like when books are turned into movies? Have you read You Before Me? If so, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it!

A to Z Challenge

  1. I've not read this book. I've heard about it. I'm going to try to get to it. We'll see. So many books, so little time. I do go to the movies, but not that much. The movies that I do go to see are more along the lines of the superhero movies. I'm really excited for the Captain America movie and also for Suicide Squad.

    1. Sounds like me ;) Hoping I'll find the time, but I've been in a reading slump lately.

  2. I have not read it either but I can certainly add it to the TBR pile!

  3. I didn't know that one was a book. I saw the trailer for the movie though and I think it looks like a good though it may be sad. Thanks for sharing!

    1. I saw it and then noticed someone commented it was a book! Need to check it out before the movie comes out!!

    1. I'm betting the book and movie will make me get super emotional >.<

Is the challenge going well for your blog? M marked the halfway point!
My blog's giveaway is still going! I'm want everyone to visit more stops. On Sunday, there's a post about how to better use the image alt code-- featured on the main A to Z blog as well as my own.
I have seen this preview. Looks like it'll be a fun comedy with some heartbreaking drama. I haven't read the books.
Do I enjoy when books are turned into films? Umm... rarely. I love the idea. I get all excited. And then Hollywood almost always disappoints, reminding me that they exist for the fans of the director or actors-- and don't care about the book, author, or that fandom. But my least favorite of all is when someone in such a movie publicly admits they haven't read the book. That book earned you millions of dollars. It put food in your mouth, a car in your driveway, your kids into good schools... and you didn't read it? And you admit it as if it doesn't matter. Then, just to dump salt into the wound, people don't attack the movie person for this. No outrage. No shock. No boycotts. It isn't a scandal.
You can hear culture getting flushed.
There are bright lights though. Actors who say they begged for the roll because they loved a character in a book. Ones who are willing to stand up for keeping true to the story line. It's rare. But my heart grows ten sizes when that happens.

  6. Oh I have heard yeah the ugly cry is ridiculous. I'll totally have to prepare myself for that. My book club wants to see this when it comes out. I'm iffy on book to movie. Sometimes it works sometimes...yikes! They've done some pretty excellent ones as of late though so hopefully!
