Drea's Review:

Orphan Lindsey is used to everyone in her life leaving her high and dry except her BFF and business partner Gemma. Lindsey is the brains behind their estate/junk sale business and Gemma…well, Gemma puts stuff in boxes. But when they get the chance at an estate of a lifetime in Venice, Lindsey and Gemma hop a plane to Italy with the last of their savings and a whole lot of hope. At first the vacation home from hoarder hell looks like a complete bust until Lindsey discovers a hidden room with priceless pottery and…a coffin. Off course the coffin features a hunky corpse with a stake through his heart, and of course when Lindsey removes the stake, hijinks and mayhem ensue.

As you may have guessed, Between a Vamp and a Hard Place is a paranormal romance featuring a centuries’ old vampire named Rand with a misogynist streak a mile wide and no clue how to use modern technology. This novel-length story is a fun, light read with plenty of love and laughter. If chick lit isn't your thing, that you might want to steer clear of this. I don't know that I'd term it a full chick lit, but at times it gets hokey. Especially with Rand’s awe of all things present-day, but soldiering through those parts is well worth it. And eventually those parts became cute.

The heroine, control-freak Lindsey goes through personal growth as she helps save her man and her business. And Rand learns how to work with women instead of expecting them to work on him. There’s even an appearance of a legendary character who, well, doesn’t meet a good end.

The ending of Between a Vamp and a Hard Place surprised me, which is hard to do these days, and it was also sweet. But don’t fear, there are some steamy scenes to satisfy those into sexy reads.

Grab this one if you like your vampires old and sword-wielding and your heroines well-meaning but slightly flawed.
