Melissa's Review:

Breath of Fire is book 2 in the Kingmaker Chronicles. I really enjoyed book 1 so knew I had to grab this one next and binge listen to the rest of the series. I'm loving this world though a bit sad to find out that it's only 3 books. I hope we'll see more of Amanda Bouchet's work in the near future.

We start out a bit rocky with things between Cat and Griffin. That made me a bit hesitant to continue but I went ahead and I wound up enjoying it after the initial bit. We're full of action in this installment the Beta team heads to the Ice Plains to secure some beings to protect Sinta's borders. There's some bumps along the road for them during their journey and I was glad to see a bit more revealed about Cat since we don't really know much about why the Gods favor her so much. The power bid is in full play and we're gearing up for a big fight. In the second half of the book we head to the Agon Games, which is basically a team battle to the death think gladiator style and oh man I didn't want to stop when I got to that part. People are dying and getting seriously injured and I felt like our team was the underdog. We get a little addition near the end that surprised me and has me wondering how the next book is going to go down.

Action packed, Breath of Fire is a must read! I loved the romance aspect and all the adventure and fighting mixed in. This is a pretty well balanced series with all the different aspects I feel a lot of different readers will enjoy it. As I said before, we're gearing up for the big fight in the next book and I cannot wait. If you're a fan of fantasy books with romance you'll adore this series.
