Melissa's Review:

Hate to Want You is book one in the Forbidden Hearts series. This is my first time reading an Alisha Rai book, and I really enjoyed her writing style! I'll be picking up some of her other books in the near future. This book is a second chances romance trope with a family feud that rivals Romeo and Juliet. It's a must read for contemporary romance lovers.

Livvy Kane is back in her childhood town to care for her mother who is recovering from surgery. It doesn't take long before her childhood love, Nicholas Chandler comes around. While she's in town Livvy is guest spotting at a local tattoo shop and the rumor mill is already going crazy. We get the scoop pretty quickly about Livvy and Nicholas having a relationship in their youth and breaking it off when her father and his mother died in a car accident together. We also learn that they've been having a once a year no strings attached rendezvous for the past 9 years. Neither can get the other out of their systems and the tension between the two is visible from the start. There's a lot of family issues thrown into the mix, not only from the parent's dying and everyone pointing fingers at each other. We also have the fact that Nicholas's father bought out Livvy's mother's share of the company at a very low price after her husband's death. So there is lots and lots of drama, steamy scenes, and hope that Livvy and Nicholas will manage to make it work this time around.

Hate to Want You is an amazing first book in a brand new series. As I mentioned earlier, this was my first Alisha Rai book and surely won't be my last. I thought Rai managed to weave the characters and drama together very well and kept my attention throughout the entire book. I will be interested in seeing which characters will be the leads in the next installment, I have a guess but we'll see. All in all, if you like your contemporary romances steamy and enjoy a good second chance trope you need to grab this book.

    1. Right? I'm glad the author tossed in that tidbit though, it made it a bit more plausible that they have more history than just their childhood romance
