Melissa's Review:

Red Velvet Revenge is book 4 in the Cupcake Bakery Mystery series. I think I was a bit hungry when I saw this one, but I knew I had to read it. It actually turned out great and I'll be grabbing the rest of the series shortly. Since I started on book 4, I can easily say these can be read out of order if you want/need to.

Fairy Tale Cupcakes is facing sales at an all time low, so when Melanie and Angie, the owners, get offered a food truck, they take it for a test drive. On the test drive they figure out it needs a serious overhaul when it breaks down and they're stranded. That's when a good samaritan, Slim Hazard, comes to their rescue and also invites them to sell their cupcakes at the Juniper Pass rodeo. They fix up the food truck and bake as many cupcakes as they can and hit the road to Juniper Pass. Things quickly take a turn when Slim Hazard is shot at the opening parade and then the star bull rider Ty Stokes winds up dead. The Fairy Tale Cupcakes crew always seem to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and land themselves in trouble or under suspicion time and time again. It really lead to an entertaining read though. I didn't figure out the murderer until it was revealed so kudos to the author. I always love when that happens and it's not out of left field or revealed way early in the story.

Red Velvet Revenge kept me on my toes and also seriously craving cupcakes. I thought the characters were well written since the secondary characters were just as memorable as the main characters. The plot itself I enjoyed but did question why the cupcake crew wanted to dig around in who shot someone they had just met and things like that. I'll be backtracking and getting book one in this series sometime soon since this one worked out well for me. If you're a fan of mystery books, you should try this series!

  6. Love the title. The concept kind of sounds like a series of movies that they did on the Hallmark Channel. Except the main character in those baked cookies, not cupcakes (but professionally as well).
