Melissa's Review:

White Hot is book two in the Hidden Legacy series. I'm addicted to all of Ilona Andrews books, so I knew I had to read this. It's been awhile since the previous book but it looks like we're getting book two and three released in 2017! The series is set in Houston, TX and revolves around Nevada Baylor and her family who run a detective agency. The main draw for me with this series is the world is enmeshed with magic users, though the main ones we'll see are the strongest set, they're called Primes.

Nevada Baylor takes a case to help a grieving father find his wife's killer. The case is very dangerous since the House the woman worked for is denying all responsibility and covering up her murder. It doesn't take long before Connor "Mad" Rogan, a Prime that Nevada worked with in the previous book shows up and they wind up teaming up again. The tension between the two in the previous book had me really hoping they'd wind up together and as they're working so closely the sparks are flying again. The case gives us more depth on how the Houses work and the power struggle between the Primes. We also find out that Nevada is working on honing her powers, she's basically a human lie detector but she's figuring out how to use a few of her other abilities as well.

White Hot is the best book I've read this year. Between the characters, the magical powers and all the action this is a must read. Nevada's character continues to grow and the ending leaves us wanting to see what will happen in the next book asap. It's not a cliffhanger but it does open up a can of worms that I cannot wait to dive into. If you're a fan of Urban Fantasy with romance mixed in you'll love this series.

  3. Sounds good. Primes remind me of the primes in Anne McCaffrey's Rowan series.
