Melissa's Review:

Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet is book four in the Charley Davidson series. I'm not sure why I took so long getting back into this series but I'm glad I came back. I forgot how DJones adds so much snark and hilarious lines into her writing.

Charley Davidson is a private investigator that is also the grim reaper. As a grim reaper, she can see ghosts and they can pass through her. After the events in the previous book, Charley is dealing with PTSD from being attacked, she's been trying to cope by staying sequestered in her apartment for months. That finally comes to an end when she takes on a case for a woman that has being mentally tormented since childhood and has no clue why or who is behind it. We also have the hunky son of Satan (aka Reyes) that is out of prison thanks to Charley. He's staying in his human form for the most part this book, which is interesting. I just want him and Charley to hurry up and get together. Though I will be interested in seeing what the consequences are if/when they're together.

Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet is a hilarious addition to the series that had me guessing whodunit while Charley was solving her case. With Charley coping with her attack and trying to move past it I felt bad for her but it was nice to see her character dealing with it like a normal person would have to. Her family and friends are there to support her in any way that they can and while Charley is a strong leading lady, she needs to rely on them to some extent. If you haven't started this series yet, I highly recommend it to anyone fond of Urban Fantasy with demons and tons of humor mixed in.

  8. I think this is the last book in the series I read. Not because I didn't enjoy it but because I'd caught up to all the latest releases and then had to wait for the next book to come out... and it got pushed to the back of the pile. I need to get back into this series though. I love Darynda's writing and the humor in these books. Great review!
