Melissa's Review:

The Player is book three in The Game Maker series. I adore this series, so this book was a must-read for me. The series revolves around three brothers, each finding love and telling their stories. In The Player, we have the youngest of the Sevastyan brothers, the one I've been intrigued by the entire time. Dmitri Sevastyan was portrayed in the previous books as a man with many issues. Mental issues from a bad childhood experience and some other things. Characters like that draw me in to see how much their character will grow throughout the story. I wasn't let down, I loved seeing Dmitri and Vice together. I'm getting ahead of myself, though.

The book opens with the whole Sevastyan family and their wives out partying in Vegas. We meet Victoria Valentine aka Vice who is a con artist trying to find a mark. With several potential marks off the table, Vice sets her sights on Dmitri Sevastyan and is surprised when he seems enthralled by her. So Vice and her family of con artists decide how to proceed, and they decide that Vice should lead him along until he showers her with gifts that she can sell. Things don't go quite as planned when Dmitri and Vice get married and Vice is growing feelings for the man she's supposed to be conning.

I enjoy the whole ulterior movie stories in romance, it's always interesting to see what will happen when the person starts growing feelings for the other. I wasn't a huge fan of Vice's family, but it was necessary to add them in to give more depth to her character. I'm glad Dmitri whisked her away quickly and the story didn't have a ton of them. This series is addicting, and I highly suggest it if you're looking for a naughty read.

  3. I don't read much romance but I have a cousin named Victoria Valentine. I don't think she'd be quite as adventurous.

  4. I'm not terribly fond of the con artist. But if it was book 3, I can see why you'd stick with it.

    1. Depending how they are, I'm okay with it. It was done well in this one. For some reason I don't like reporter characters in contemporary romance books though lol But if you toss in a firefighter - I'll read anything :P

  6. I loved the first two books. I saw that Cole mentioned that this might be on audio, so I'm holding out for the audio and hope that it comes. If not, I will pick up the book and read it. Glad you enjoyed this.

    1. I say read book two before this one. You could technically read each as a standalone but the brothers and their wives do show up in each. You won't miss a ton but it gives better depth.

  11. Movie stories? That's interesting! I miss reading naughty books. All I seem to lean toward is YA books nowadays. Great review :)
