Melissa's Review:

Macrieve is book 14 in the Immortals After Dark series. This book focuses on a character I've been wanting to know more about for awhile now, Macrieve! He's a Lykae, and a warrior and not one you want to cross. I couldn't wait to see who his mate would be. We find out early in the book that he's captured, tortured, and manages to escape from a prison that held a bunch of people from the Lore. After a few months of him tormenting himself, Macrieve hears that the daughter of the man who organized the prison he was tortured in was captured and is being sold to the highest bidder. Imagine his surprise when he goes to the auction and smells his mate. Snatch and grab style, Macrieve escapes with his mate, Chloe Todd and heads to one of his places with a ton of his people there to protect them.

Chloe was raised thinking she was a human, but before she's captured to be auctioned off she's noticed things were changing. Her senses were heightened, and she didn't need to eat to survive anymore. She's now trapped with Macrieve in his mansion, and the unknown bits of her heritage can and will cause trouble. The duo grows closer with each day, but when things are revealed I wasn't sure if they'd be able to set aside their past issues and be happy with one another.

We get a lot of Macrieve's childhood story told in this installment. It broke my heart to hear what all he had gone through. There's no wonder why he's so fierce, but it's left him hating an entire race in the Lore. KCole doesn't believe in going easy on her characters, but it really does give a reason on why they are the way they are. I enjoyed this installment but was quite frustrated with Macrieve in several situations. You know how hard headed men can be sometimes. If you're a fan of Paranormal Romance, I think you'd love this series! Each book is about a different couple, and the overall series arc progresses with each book. I can't wait to see what happens next.

  2. I love these books and can't recommend the audios enough. Robert Petkoff's voice is amazing. He is by far my favorite male narrator. His accents, *sigh*. Anyway. I love these books too. I'm not sure how many more of them there will be, but I think she is getting closer to her end game, but that is just me speculating. Great review.

    1. I was sadddddd when this one wasn't in audio at my library. They've been pretty good with having a ton of them in audio format. Loveeeeee RPetkoff's narration!

  3. I think I tried the prequel (a freebie on Amazon) waaay back when and couldn't get into it. I think it was like the Immortal Wants Forever? Anyways, I've always heard such great things about this series and specific books within it. Since every book features a different couple, is it possible to read them out of order?

    1. Yep! I've read several out of order before. Just know there are is an overall series arc that happens and you might get spoilers on previous couples popping up.

    1. haha I'm not sure if you'd be willing to try the audios, but I really love them. Don't get me wrong, the book version is awesome, but if I had to choose between the two versions I'd grab the audio every time.
