A to Z - Urban Fantasy Favorites

A to Z Challenge - U

Urban Fantasy

One of my favorite genres has to be Urban Fantasy. See a few of my favorites below!

Check out our previous A-to-Z posts: R, S, T

I think my favorite would be the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews, but I already did a post about that series so I'll leave it out. So here are a few of my other top Urban Fantasy reads!

This series is so different from most of the books in this genre but they are a must read.

This series was really great on audiobook. I still need to catch up on later in the series though.

I'd love to hear some of your favorite Urban Fantasy books!

  2. I don't really follow too much urban fantasy. But I do enjoy a good story.

  3. For me, it would have to be The Others and Kate Daniels. I would also add, The Gifted series by Jenna Black and Kit Colbana series by J.C. Daniels. I think the Menagerie series by Rachel Vincent has the potential, but it is hard to say for sure with only one book out so far. I would say the same for the Iron Druid Chronicles by Kevin Hearne, though there are more books out, I've only read the first one. People say it is great, and from the first book I agree, but can't confirm just yet.

    1. I need to check out JBlack and the Kit Colbana series. Menagerie was good, can't wait to see what happens in the next one. I've read book 3 in the Iron Druid Chronicles and it was pretty good, I need to get around to reading the entire series!

  4. I have heard the term Urban Fantasy for years but have never been sure of what it means exactly.

    1. I think of it as fantasy (paranormal in most cases) that is set in an urban environment instead of in outer space etc. There's little to no romance, if there is romance it's not the main plot at all.

  6. Mmm yes I love UF. I don't read it often these days though. Got a bit burnt out. Kate is so good. And I love Briggs for hers. Rachel Caine's Weather Wardens (and spin off) too.
