Melissa's Review:

Sweep in Peace is book two in the Innkeeper Chronicles by Ilona Andrews. In this installment, our lovely innkeeper, Dina DeMille is still worried about not having many guests at the inn. In walks George, an Arbitrator, looking for an inn to house 3 different factions of beings that are in a dispute on the planet Nexus. For the people familiar with IAndrew's work, you'll recognize George from The Edge series, but an adult now. Anyway, the peace treaty is pretty much guaranteed to go down in flames since each faction is chomping at the bit for bloodshed and death. Dina decides against her better judgment to host the summit since it will help her inn become stronger and if successful the inn's rating will go up.

The peace summit was full of drama and lead to an interesting read. IAndrews really makes great characters, I think my favorite in this book was Orro, the chef that Dina hired. He was so dramatic and entertaining. I was also glad to see a few characters from book one return. And while I was happy to see the crossover from The Edge series to this one, George was a calculating jerk. Not at all what I expected him to grow up as. That being said, it fit well in this story, so it all worked out for me. I'm really enjoying this series, and hope to see book three in the near future! I recommend this series if you're looking for an Urban Fantasy read with a bit of everything you could ask for. (Vampires, the Hope-Crushing Horde, and merchants of Baha-char, oh my!)

  1. Haven't read the first book yet, but I mean to. Still don't know when because time is what it is (not enough and a pain!), but I will! Glad you had a good time with the read or, better yet, the listening ;)
