Melissa's Review:

The Dirt on Ninth Grave is book nine in the Charley Davidson series. In this installment Charley has amnesia, she has no clue who she is or why she's in a town where no one knows her. Charley (aka Janey Doerr) is living and working in Sleepy Hollow. Luckily she's met some extremely nice people that are letting her work in a diner for a living until she gets her memory back. She even has an apartment and is making friends. That's where things get interesting, her BFF is Cookie, a fellow waitress at the diner. And Janey has a huge crush on one of her regular customers, his name is Reyes. Uh huh, you read that right, her friends/loved ones found her in Sleepy Hollow but are trying to let her find things out on her own while supporting her as best they can.

I really enjoyed this installment, but I think some others will not. It's going to be a love it or hate it type read. The reason I say that is Charley/Janey has anmesia, it brings the series back to probably before book one type feel while mixing in characters we already know and love. Janey's having to figure out why she's seeing ghosts and what to do with them. There's that firey attraction between her and Reyes. She even investigates a bit when one of her customers is in trouble. Her personality is shining through even though she has amnesia. The reason I think some readers will not like this installment is the amnesia bit which is pretty much the entire book. I personally loved this installment, and can't wait to see where the series goes.

  1. I thought it was fun watching everyone tiptoe around Charley trying not to jolt her memory back too quickly. I also loved watching her fall in love with Reyes again. I enjoyed it. I do know what you mean with the love/hate thing. Great review.

    1. I have to agree :D I liked that her habits like the coffee love and her wanting to investigate shined through too.

  6. I think we needed some lightness after the darkness of the preceding books. You know what they say, a change is as good as a rest. For my part, I loved it. :)

  7. I will admit that I've only read up to the 3rd book and then lost track of all the releases. However, I don't think I will like this one. It seems like a filler novel to be honest. :\ Glad you enjoyed it though. Is it safe to say that one could skip this book when the time comes? Is there anything that helps progress the storyline?

    1. I'll be honest, you probably could since at least 3/4ths of the books is amnesia Charley. But maybe check reviews with spoilers if you want to know what happened.

  8. I read the first in this series and really loved it, but unfortunately I never got around to reading more. I really should make it a priority. I love mystery, and I was surprised at how much I liked the paranormal stuff since it usually isn't my thing. I am glad to see that this series is still good all these installments later. Great review.
