Melissa's Review:

Magic Shifts is book 8 in the Kate Daniels series. This time around we're dealing with the aftermath of Kate and Curran retiring from the pack. They've got a house in the suburbs, and are trying to focus on their business, Cutting Edge. It doesn't take long before a pack member goes missing, and his girlfriend from Clan Heavy (Bear) asks for Kate's help. It's not that simple though, they're having to walking on egg shells to not interfere with the pack since they're still in their separation period. The case isn't the only thing going on, large groups of ghouls are in town and no one knows why, and odd creatures that aren't usually in the USA are popping up ready to take on Kate. This book is really busy and I'm not sure how they manage to sleep with all that work. It does lead to a very interesting read though!

The FEELS. I was worried for a bit there near the halfway point, and I'm pretty sure IAndrews wanted me to shed a tear at one point. I will say feeling-wise it's somewhat balanced, because I was chuckling at times when Curran or Kate made a quip to one another. We're seeing a bit more of Daddy Dearest in this installment, and I'm really intrigued on how this is going to play out. We learn something new, that could come to play later in the series. I'm not sure where the series is going to go, but I'll be following it no matter where it leads. IAndrews is by far my favorite author writing duo and I highly recommend this series if you haven't read it yet!

  8. I liked this one! I was a bit disappointed by the lack of the side characters I've come to love (more Derek, please!), but overall I enjoyed it.

  9. Hold the phone. You're telling me this entire time that I had no idea I was reading two authors work?! Wow! I have apparently been living under a rock. That's probably why enjoy the bantering so much... because it's real. I have fallen behind on this series. I really need to step up my game and catch up. This one sounds like a good one with all the emotions going on.
