Fresh Fiction Box Not to Miss - May 2015

I got an email earlier this month about Fresh Fiction's Box Not to Miss. It's a brand new monthly book subscription box and I don't know about yall, but I'm addicted to subscription boxes. Since it was the very first box ever, I went ahead and signed up with the coupon code.

Total cost to me: $19.95
The normal cost is $24.95, the $5 off coupon code right now is IWANTONE.

The box is monthly, and ships near the end of each month. It ships out of Plano, TX, which is a city over from me, so that's why I got it super fast.

Monthly contents:
1 NEW paperback
4-6 free ebooks
4-6 swag items
1 Fresh Fiction swag

I do have to note that there are some variances in the boxes sent out. The few that I saw posted before mine had a different paperback book in it.

Here's the card that was on top of the pink tissue paper.

And here's all the goodies that came in the box!

The first thing I noticed was the giant red zip up tote from Harlequin. Then I spotted all the loose cards, which turned out to be the ebooks! They have a coupon code or a QR code to snag the books on the back of each.

Anyway, here are the goodies I received.

Paperback:
All of Me - Jennifer Bernard ($7.99)

eBooks:
Secret of The Painted Lady - Elizabeth Ashby & Christina A. Burke ($4.99)
Running Hot - Helenkay Dimon ($1.99)
Through My Window - Jayne Rylon ($2.99, currently free)
To Light The Dragon's Fire - Margaret Taylor ($0.99, currently free)
Cowboy Kisses - Lacy Williams ($3.99)

Swag:
Mary Behre Koozie
University Park Series - C.M. Doporto Temporary Tattoo
Helena Hunting - Inked Armor Temporary Tattoo
Gena Showalter - The Original Heartbreakers Temporary Tattoo
Tricia Skinner - Cleaner cloth (It's one of those eye glasses cloths which I loveeee!)
Love's Call - C.A. Szarek Chapstick
3 pink taffy
Harlequin Zip Tote Bag

If you add just the book and ebooks together (I'm going to be nice and do it at full price, though some are freebies right now) the total was worth $22.94 (not including tax). I'm not sure how to value the swag or tote bag, so we're just going to leave it at that.

Do I think the box is worth it?
Kind of. The value isn't omg amazing compared to some subscription boxes out there. I do think as the months progress they will be able to team up with more and more publishers and authors and get better deals. I'm probably going to keep the subscription for another month to see how it is then make a decision on if I should cancel.

  1. Do you get to pick what type of books you get or is it a preset thing?

    1. It's completely random, which is why I was hesitant at first. Figured if I got one I didn't like though I could give it away :)

    2. Oh, that's kinda suck! I'm not a gambler and incredibly picky so I'll just have to wait till you get to choosexD Great idea!

    3. I know what you mean, that's why I was going to pass on it at first TBH. I kept telling myself I need to read other books than just Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance so I signed up hahaha

  2. I hope you'll get more, but good thing that you got all this super fast because of your closeness! A blogger friend of mine who went to RT told me about those cards being, in truth, coupons for eBooks and I thought it was a cool idea.

    1. Yep! Some had codes on the back, others had a QR code that you scan and it took you to their Amazon page and the books were currently free. Nifty :)

  3. So I guess you can't pick what you want in the box? There's a similar one I saw... it's Owl something.

    Happy weekend!

    1. Nope, can't pick at all, which sucks. I don't like certain genres so who knows if the ones next month will be mixed in with that genre.
I've seen the Bookworm Box, it comes with I think 2 signed paperbacks.

  4. I think if I was going to do a book subscription box I'd go with the other one since it's for charity.

  5. Interesting. I've only done ONE box subscription and that was for Graze when I could get a box for a dollar. I wasn't impressed and cancelled my subscription since the following month was going to be $20. I've since seen all sorts of things like this, ones for dogs, cats, food, nerdy things, and books. I just came across one the other day called OwlCrate. Same concept as this but I'm not a gambler. If I'm paying $20 I want the stuff I'm getting to be stuff I'm going to want. Otherwise, I wasted $20 of giveaway items. :\

    1. I'm giving it one more month to see if I want it or not, but I agree with the wanting stuff I'll actually read vs giveaway items. I was subscribed to the beauty boxes for a long time, finally quit when I had samples coming out my ears lol! I think the only one besides this one that I have now is Graze, my boyfriend enjoys it and tends to eat the snacks I don't want. I think it's $6-7 for the 4 snacks.

  6. Its a good idea, but I don't like the fact that you can't pick genres and I'm pretty sure what I'm reading won't be included. Nice swag and books though :)

    1. That's my main complaint too. Maybe in later months that will be an option. Hope so!
