Melissa's Review:

Scout has always been the odd child, when she was young everyone thought she was crazy. She would randomly see people glowing and as a child would do, she wasn't afraid to mention it. Her Grandmother took care of her the majority of her life, so it really took a toll on Scout when her Grandmother passed away and left her a note to explain some stuff she hid from Scout.

Moving off to live in a college dorm opens Scout's eyes. She's starting to see the glowing around certain people again. She's not sure why she's seeing this all of a sudden again and is concerned. That doesn't stop her from quickly becoming BFF's with her new roommate. Her new roommate Val, talks her into going to see a band and that's where everything takes off. Scout meets the group of people that owns the bookstore/bar that is throwing the concert and she manages to score a job interview.

When she shows up to the job interview, her eyes are opened to a whole new world. She's forced to see that unicorns do exist, that paranormal creatures like unicorns are what is causing her to see the glow around people. Her destiny is revealed, and Scout has to accept and learn everything she can.

I will admit this story will bother quite a few readers, it has the insta love/soul mates early on in the book. I'm not bothered by that much at all and actually enjoyed the book. I'd like to see some of the characters expanded upon a bit more, but the main character Scout was fleshed out quite well. I'd say this isn't really a romance even though it has the instalove/soulmates thrown in, it's more of a Paranormal New Adult book. If you're looking to try a unicorn book, I highly suggest Unless You Can Be a Unicorn.

  2. Interesting. I've only read one book with a unicorn in it (Elder Races). Maybe I'll give it a try.
