Melissa's Review:

Kate Daniels returned in book five of the Kate Daniels series. This time around Kate has quit the Order of Merciful Aid and with the help of the pack, she now has her own company. But her old boss is talking a lot of crap so no one is using her. She's literally just sitting around with no one coming in or calling. Kate's friend Andrea teams up with her and they manage to score a case looking for a guy that is MIA. Rene, who works for the Red Guard is a character we met in the Midnight Games book (book 3) she promises to give the stamp of approval on Kate's new business venture and recommend it to anyone/everyone if she is able to locate this guy, or at least his project. There is little to no information on what the project is, so you know it has to be something bad.

There's some weird stuff happening in this Magic Slays. Kate helps out Gastek by wrangling a vampire that is on the loose and when he goes to reclaim it he loses control and passes out. This is the same reason he gave for the vampire running loose in the first place. Something is going on, and could cause a lot of issues to the public if they don't fix it.

The Kate Daniels series is one of my favorite Urban Fantasy series to date. Kate's character is tough but she's the type of person that protects the people she cares for. I'm intrigued on where the series as a whole is going, each book continues to get better. I've grown used to the narrator and can't imagine reading one of the books at this point. I highly suggest this series if you haven't read it yet.

    1. I'll be sad when that happens, it's really good. I love that I can just get the next one and listen to it instantly. Finally got caught up on JEstep's Elemental Assassin series but now I feel like I'm going through withdrawal from it lolol

  2. Gastek is such a fun character! Reading all of your reviews of this series are tempting me to re-listen to all of the installments which I do NOT have time for, so thanks a lot. LOL! Can't wait to check-out your thoughts on book 6; things are about to get c-r-a-z-y!!

    1. Took me awhile to get into that one due to the narrator, so if you don't like it give it time :) Now that narrator IS Kate Daniels to me.
