Melissa's Review:

Kate Daniels is back on the case. This time around a magic flare is causing a ton of issues in Atlanta. As I discovered in book one, when the magic is up, the mech is down, and vise versa. So since there is a magic flare, magical beings are stronger and this can cause many issues for Kate. She's called in to assist the shape changers when some guy takes down one of their squads and steals important maps. Oh and the theaf somehow managed to sneak off by becoming invisible. Enter Curran, the leader of the shapechangers. All I've been thinking about since book one is when are Curran and Kate going to get together? He's a bigger than life cat shifter and I can't get enough of.

Kate's case leads her to a girl searching for her mother and the mother's missing coven. It all seems to be connected to the case so Kate takes charge of the girl and tries to unravel what is going on. I'm enjoying the series so far, and I've gotten used to the narrator's voice now, though it took awhile. I find the narrator suits Kate's character pretty well. Kate's character is the tough chick that knows what she's doing. She's not afraid to get dirty or put her life on the line in order to protect others. I recommend this series if you're looking for a strong female lead in an Urban Fantasy.

  3. I so love this series. They just keep getting better and better. I'm also a huge fan of Renee Raudman who narrates all of Ilona Andrews books. Once you get caught up with Kate, I highly recommend any of the other series on audio. They are great, but with enough differences you don't feel like you are reading Kate with different names, species, etc. Ilona Andrews ability to create new and interesting worlds amazes me. I've read books from five different series from them and they are all original.

    1. It took me awhile to get used to her voice to be honest, but now it's like okay, that's Kate *nods* I'll try out different series next :D

  4. Magic Strikes, the next book in the series, is my favorite book probably of all books, not just the series. I've gotten used to Renee Raudman, the narrator, but she's not my favorite. There are so many male voices, I feel they should have hired a male narrator too. I've only listened to two books with narrators of both sexes and I really appreciated it. Don't see why they don't do it more often.

    1. Oh wow! That's great to hear that it's a favorite! I haven't listened to one yet that had two narrators, I'd probably be confused :)

  5. I'm psyched that you are flying through this series so quickly, you'll be caught-up and pining over the next installment like the rest of us in no time. Renée Raudman's voice has become Kate Daniels for me; I'm incapable of reading these books now. Happy Friday!
