Review: Her Mad Hatter

Title: Her Mad Hatter

 photo 4star.png

Alice Hu runs the Mad Hatter's Cupcakery and Tea Shoppe, which features awesome cupcakes with Alice themed titles. While closing up, Alice lets an older lady come in and gives her a cupcake. The older lady begins babbling about the Mad Hatter like he is real and pretty much makes Alice think the lady is crazy. Before the old lady leaves, she places a card with a white rabbit on the table. When Alice handles it she is transported to Wonderland and the Mad Hatter doesn't seem very pleased to see her. Events quickly unfold that tell why Hatter isn't exactly thrilled to see Alice and pretty much the rest of the book is Alice and Hatter getting to know one another. This is a short read that had me instantly looking for more books in the series. I hadn't read anything by Marie Hall before but I'll quickly be buying book two (Gerard's Beauty) since this one was amazing. All in all, you have to read this book! Oh and did I mention it's a freebie on Amazon (and B&N)? Enjoy!

Years ago wolves dragged young Grace off her tire swing into the woods, nearly killing her until one yellow-eyed wolf put a stop to it. The yellow-eyed wolf has watched from the woods behind her house ever since. Years later an animal attack incites a hunting party. Terrified for her wolf, Grace tries to stop it and nearly fails. But a nude boy with yellow eyes and a gunshot wound appears on her porch.

This story featured clean, often lyrical writing. The main characters were identifiable. And the author put a unique twist on werewolf lore. I found myself crying at the end of this sweet love story. I rarely give out five stars but this one earned it--even with a male lead described as "fragile". That said, I'm hesitant to pick up the other books in the trilogy because this one ended so perfectly.

Title: Darkness Unmasked (Dark Angels #5)
Author: Keri Arthur
Release Date: June 4th 2013

Keri Arthur's explosive Dark Angels series is packed with everything you could want: a fiesty heroine, witches, vampires, werewolves, demons, angels of death, suspense and a whole lot of sexy action.

The sexy, exciting, suspenseful adventures continue in New York Times bestselling author Keri Arthur's Dark Angels series, starring Risa Jones, a half-Aedh/half-werewolf. She can speak to the souls of the dying and the dead, and can see Reapers, the collectors of souls.

Shortly after her fight on the astral plane, Risa receives a phone call from Madeline Hunter, the leader of the vampire council, ordering her to investigate the death of Hunter's close friend and lover - Wolfgang Schmidt. His body has been discovered wrapped in a web-like substance and has been completely drained. As the body count continues to grow, Risa must summon her gifts to find the dark spirit before it strikes again.

Meanwhile, as the search for the keys that keep the gate to Hell closed grows more intense, Risa begins to unravel mysteries that will have startling consequences for her.

Why I am waiting:
Keri Arthur is one of my favorite authors and is always an instant buy for me. The Riley Jenson series sucked me in, and this series (Dark Angels) is just as great, if not better.

What book are you waiting on this week?

Althea Grant is doing fine. Sure, her Charleston gallery is suffering from the bad economy, and her artistic aspirations have gone nowhere. But she’s happy enough. When rugged metal sculptor Steel rides up on his motorcycle looking to rent studio space, his infusion of cash is more than welcome. But his art is raw, visceral, sexual—and completely inappropriate for her pastel world of watercolor landscapes.

Steel, fascinated by Althea’s rare albino coloring, sees in her the key to his next piece: a metal satyr that can be used for bondage games. Moving into her gallery basement is the first step; seducing the coolly polite lady into modeling for him is the second.

As Steel peels away her careful manners and tasteful outfits, Althea begins to realize her life isn’t just fine at all—it’s as pale and washed-out as the watercolor paintings she’s failing to sell. Can she transform her life and accept her most secret desires?

Excerpt:
Kirliss captured her other wrist and held them close in front of her, his warm fingers massaging her skin, while he studied her face. The boat surged over a wave, disturbing her balance. Kirliss’s unusual eyes caught the light, boring into her.

“This is silly,” she tried.

“Do you want me to make you stay?”

“What?” Taylor choked. She couldn’t let him treat her this way. “No! You’ll do no such—”
She lost her breath entirely when he pressed up against her. Thinking he was trying to embrace her, she pulled away and found herself backed against the brass railing.

By the time she gathered her flustered thoughts, her wrists were handcuffed to the rail behind her. Mortified, a bit afraid and—worse—suddenly and wildly aroused…

About the Book:
Sixteen years ago, Tyne Whitlock cut all ties to her past and left town under the shameful shadow of a teenage pregnancy. Now her fifteen-year-old son is in trouble with the law and she is desperate for help. But reaching out to high-powered attorney Lucas Silver Hawk will tear open the heart-wrenching past in ways Tyne never imagined.
Forced to return to the Delaware Indian community where Lucas was raised, Tyne and Lucas are tempted by the heated passion that consumed them as teens. Tyne rediscovers all the reasons she found this man irresistible, but there are scandalous secrets waiting to be revealed, disgraceful choices made in the past that cannot be denied. Love is a powerful force that could heal them both—if the truth doesn't rip them apart.

Excerpt - From Chapter Two:
"Oh, wait. There's someone here to see you."
He frowned. "I don't have time today."
"I know, I know." Martha looked apologetic. "I tried to explain that your schedule is packed, but she insisted on waiting—"
"She?"
Martha glanced down at a pad on her desktop. "A Ms. Whitlock. Tyne Whitlock."
Lucas stared. Blinked. Then he reached up and tugged at his tie, wondering who the hell shut off the room's air supply.
"She's waiting in your office. I tried to tell her your schedule was full, but…" Concern sharpened Martha's tone. "Are you all right? She said she knew you. That you were old friends. That she'd only take a minute of your time. Should I not have let her in?"
Martha droned on and he watched her lips move, but he didn't hear a word of what she said. A blind-sided punch wouldn't have stunned him more than hearing that name. He lifted his hand and nodded at Martha to let her know everything was okay even though he had no idea if it was or not, then he turned and headed down the corridor.
"Don't forget Larry and Nate. They're waiting!"
Martha's warning sounded like a distant echo.
Tyne. Here. In this building. In his office.
What had it been? Twelve, thirteen… no. Sixteen years. He scrubbed his fingers across his jaw.
He turned the corner and came to an abrupt halt. At the end of the corridor, the door of his office stood ajar. He saw Tyne's perfect profile as she sat in a straight-backed chair staring at something out of his line of view.
In an instant, Lucas was catapulted into the past.
Darkness surrounded them like a cloak. Tyne's soft sobs tore at his heart. Of all the girls he'd dated—and there had been more than a few—only she brought out in him a fierce compulsion to protect.
He swiped away her tears, the dark color of his thumb a stark contrast against her creamy white skin.
"I don't understand them, Lucas. I never will."
"Don't worry," he crooned. "It's going to be all right. Trust me, babe. They can't keep us apart. You'll be eighteen soon too. We can do what we want then. Go wherever we want."
He cradled her, his back supported by the massive pin oak. And when she stopped crying, she pulled away from him and gazed into his eyes. Her sweet face wrenched his heart and caused heat to spark his desire. Never had he wanted a girl the way he wanted Tyne. Raw need coursed through him.
She cradled his face between her palms and drew him to her. Her lips were hot against his. The kiss grew hungry, their breathing labored.
"Our love will last forever," she whispered against his mouth.
He heard the question in her quavery tone, responded to her need for reassurance.
"Forever," he groaned, tugging her down onto the mossy ground.

Lucas tilted his head to stare at the carpet in front of his shoes and gulped in the artificially-cooled air as he dragged his way out of the past. The grip he had on his attaché case made his hand throb almost as much as the memory had caused his groin to go all achy and needful.
Of course, their love hadn't lasted forever.
He was within steps of the door when Tyne glanced in his direction. Nuances of various emotions passed across her face. And it was a striking face, Lucas couldn't deny it. The years had refined her features—
She stood, smoothing her palms across the fabric of her skirt.
—and ripened her body. Her eyes were the same vivid blue he remembered, and her white-blond hair was still long and straight. He could easily recall the silky feel of it brushing against his bare chest. As teens, he'd thought of them as the perfect juxtaposition: she, all sunshine and light, he, dark like the night.
He forced his gaze back onto her face.
"Tyne." He entered his office, puzzled by the strain in his voice. What really confused him was the fact that he couldn't seem to get his tongue to form anything more.
"Hi, Lucas. It's been a long time." Her lush mouth pressed into a nervous smile, and his gut tensed.
He wanted to smile back. He truly did. With every fiber of his being. To let her know that he'd survived the sprawling interim since they'd parted just as well as she obviously had. But he couldn't smile. Couldn't speak. Couldn't think.

Review: Soul Stripper

Title: Soul Stripper
Author: Katana Collins
Release Date: May 28, 2013
Connect: Facebook, Goodreads, Pinterest, Twitter, Website
Buy Links: Amazon, B&N
 photo 4star.png

Monica, a barista by day, stripper by night has the blues. How is a former angel turned succubus supposed to work for a hottie and not sleep with him? Monica's motto is to only sleep (aka steal life) with the already condemned souls, so her boss is off limits.

The focus of Soul Stripper focuses around Monica's dual life. She works a fairly normal job selling coffee then does the complete opposite by going to her night job and stripping. Another main focus of the book is that someone seems to be killing succubi (succubus'?) and Monica might be next. It's pretty much a rush against the clock to find out who is behind the killings before she gets targeted and murdered.

Romance: Bow chica bow wowwwww! Soul Stripper is not for the faint of heart. There are sexy times in almost every chapter. This being an erotica novel, that wasn't very surprising. What did surprise me was how well written everything was and the focus wasn't on all of the sex. That being said, if you enjoy erotica books with a twist of paranormal you will love this book!

Her duties are simple: submit to his mother's "duchess training"... and fail miserably.

But in London, Pauline isn't a miserable failure. She's a brave, quick-witted, beguiling failure--a woman who ignites Griff's desire and soothes the darkness in his soul. Keeping Pauline by his side won't be easy. Even if Society could accept a serving girl duchess--can a roguish duke convince a serving girl to trust him with her heart?

She hops on the tour bus in the wee hours and lets the guys sleep. After tumbling into bed and being molested by a random guy, she quickly discovers that she was lead to the wrong tour bus. While working out all the details with the members of the band Runaway Train and her brothers via phone, Abby and Jack agree to a bet. Book Description:
Jagger Sintallon, a half-demon warrior, has dedicated his existence to fighting demons who enter the world through Hell gates. A loner of conflicting ideals, he offers shelter to a troubled woman but knows he is too rough, too dangerous, and too cocky for her delicate nature.

Dedicated to Divine Will, Sonya Camael, a Seraph, is determined to discover why she is drawn to Jagger's doorstep and the reason behind her mission. She needs the demon's help but fears he may get himself killed before she can figure it out and the world slips into Hell's dominion.

Sonya faces grave danger with evil stalking her every move, and Jagger shouldn't care but realizes he cares more than he'd likely admit. Sonya knows Jagger cannot win this war alone, but will her divine intervention mean his imminent end? Or will just the right combination of Heaven and Hell set the world right once again?

Short Excerpt:
Jagger hung his head, looking very much out of patience. With an exasperated huff, he turned in place, his boots clomping. Cocky stance, head back, and eyes daring her to say something. But these things she only partially registered because when he turned to face her, his entire upper body—chest, face, arms—glowed with the marks of past insult and injury. And that sickle shape burned into the skin over his heart—
She whimpered, heart-sick to see him in this way. Her mother's blood cried out at the thought of what agony he must have endured to stand here now, so marred and wounded. Covering her eyes, she dispelled the Seraph sight and fought the tears.
"Hey." He was in front of her within moments, pulling her hands down and leaning to peer at her downturned face. "Hey, what's wrong?"
"You. You've been through so much. Just look at you."
"I'd rather not. I'm not a pretty guy."
"Jagger. These scars. You have countless hurts. I can't see a part of you that isn't injured." She raised her eyes, tears brimming on her lower lashes. "Let me help you."
"What, you're a plastic surgeon?"
She swallowed and regained part of her composure. "Better."
He looked alarmed and rocked back on his heels. "You don't mean—"
"Yes, I do." She held onto his hands and kept him from backing away. This felt right, this decision.
His eyes shifted. "Ah, I don't think it's a good idea, doll. Our kinds don't mix well."

Book Description:
Zach Hanson is a tech wizard, capable of creating and improving gadgets... including remote nuclear warhead launchers. But he's always known that he's destined for something more, something greater, something...supernatural.

Powerful Air Amazon Gina Himmel is one of four sisters called to protect the world from those who would do it harm. Demigods in league with an Ancient have been taking over the bodies of leaders in the military and technological sectors, and Gina is sent to San Francisco to watch over Zach.

Under Gina's protection, Zach is introduced to a world of ancient deities, rogue gods and the bold, brazen Amazons who keep humanity safe. Amidst the whirlwind of battle, Zach and Gina discover a love that could give them the power to save the world...or destroy it.

The Starbucks became a battlefield. Gina punched the first SOG in the throat before he could block her attack. Her front sweep knocked him flat on his back. Before she was able to rise to her full height, one of them jumped over his fallen brother and plowed into her. She shoved him off, then landed a solid kick to his groin before he could recover his balance. Another SOG down—hopefully out of the fight for good—as he rolled around screaming, his hands covering his damaged testicles. She hoped they were lodged in his gut. Her kick had been more than enough to put them there.
Served him right.
Taking a fighting stance to face the third attacker, she saw the first getting back to his feet. She desperately wanted to look over her shoulder to check if Richard was getting Zach out of the line of fire, but the two SOGs closing in on her kept her total attention. At least Richard wasn’t trying to rejoin the fight. Then she’d have to protect him, too.
She glanced over at “Joel Woods.” He, too, was getting back to his feet.
The odds were four to one.
Gina allowed herself a smug smile.
Bring it on.
Two of the goons jumped her at the same time. The first grabbed her in a bear hug while the second reached out to touch skin.
She surrendered her weight, making the first SOG bend forward, then ducked and drove her head into the shocker’s midsection. The head of the guy holding her hit the attacker’s skull with an audible thud that brought a grin to her lips.
A hand brushing her skin threw a jolt, but she was able to pull away fast enough to stop debilitating pain. Gritting her teeth against the burns that made her whole body flush hot, she shoved one of the SOGs aside, buried her fingers in the shirt of the shocker and tossed him over the counter. He and the espresso machine ended up on the floor. His screams told her the burns he’d put on her arm had been repaid by the steam pouring out of the machine.
Hopefully ten-fold
When testicle boy struggled to his feet, she gave him another groin kick. The groan he made as he fell to the ground sounded like a constipated moose. That image made her grin.
“Joel Woods” stumbled at her, arms spread wide. She ducked under one arm before kicking the back of his knees. As he fell to the floor, she gave him a hard kick to the back of the head that would put him to sleep for a good long while.
Feeling cocky, Gina crooked her finger at the fourth SOG.
He looked at his fallen brothers, first the one who was screaming in pain as he struggled to push off the heavy espresso machine, then to testicle boy who was gagging and retching like he was about to toss his cookies, and finally to a prostrate “Joel Woods.” The fourth SOG’s face blanched. He turned and ran.
“Chicken shit. Come back here and fight!”

Buddy Review: Walking Disaster

The lovely BeachBumReads suggested we read Walking Disaster together and do a buddy review. We did, so prepare yourself for the best review ever!

Ana: Welcome, welcome. Tod—

Mel: Today we are talking about hookers. I mean Walking Disaster! And possibly some hoe bags that Travis likes to uhhh. Oops.

Ana: *shakes head* uuhhhh....yeah. *coughs*

Mel: SEXY TIMES!

Ana: Mhm! Sexy times! woohooo! For those of you who don’t know, Jamie McGuire released her new novel WALKING DISASTER *fan girling*

Mel: HOLY SHIT THE PICTURE MOVES! I’m the one on the right - just FYI.

Ana: lol it does! WHAT IS THIS MAGICS?!?! haha -- Lol. Fine by me! The one on the left is fangirling HARDER!

Mel: DAMN YOU! ;)

Ana: ;) -- So... excuse us and please feel free to fangirl along with us. We just can’t seem to get enough of Travis Maddox... yes, we’re leaving out the “Madd Dog” nickname since we know he doesn’t like that nonsense!

Mel: Being introduced to Travis Maddox in Beautiful Disaster left me wanting more. When I found out Walking Disaster was the same story told in Travis’s POV I was ecstatic. The actual storyline told in Walking Disaster stayed true to the events that happened, thank goodness. There were extras thrown in that were basically events that Travis did on his own (without Abby).

Ana: I agree. I think I really needed Travis’ POV. Abby was a bit... much for me. But you automatically see from Travis’ eyes, how he see’s Abby. She’s not as whiny or ehh in Walking Disaster as she is in Beautiful Disaster.

Mel: Being able to see what Travis was thinking made me understand why he reacted the way he did. In Beautiful Disaster I thought Travis was a little bit nuts, even though I still loved him long time.

Ana: I loved Walking Disaster, but if you’re new to Jamie McGuire, I would suggest you read Beautiful Disaster first. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200. Lol. But in all seriousness, don’t reading WD first. You’ll be so lost, you’re gonna wanna hitchhike to the nearest clue. The timing of events is all there, but if you didn’t read BD, some of what’s happened will be lost on you.

Mel: I agree, Beautiful Disaster has to be read first to fully understand what the heck is going on and why.

Ana: THE MADDOX BROTHERS! *swoon* Can I just... eat them up?? They’re so...ahhh. YES please. I’ll have an appetizer of Thomas and Travis, and entre of Tyler and Taylor and Trenton for dessert. Nom nom nom.

Mel: Bishy, you can’t call dibs on ALL of the brothers. Share a least one with me! I loved that WD had Travis’s brothers in the mix. I read this on JMcGuire’s FAQ: “I have plans to write novels for the Maddox brothers in the future as well.” *fans self* I’m hoping that happens soon, I’m going to have withdrawals if not.

Ana: Oh, I mean... it’s a dinner for two ;) -- And YES *fangirling* ahh. I need me some more Maddox brothers! Thank you JMcGuire!

We’re gonna keep this review short and sweet. If you’ve read Beautiful Disaster then stop wasting precious time and pick up Walking Disaster. MUST READ for 2013! READ IT NOW! *compelling you to buy the book*

… Are you compelled yet? NO?!

How about now? GOOOOOD! GO BUY THE BOOK!

---

Ana: Well, Mel. I had a blast reading WD with you, even if you finished it, like, a whole day ahead of me ;( BUUUT, what are you rating this bad boy?

Mel: 1 MILLION STARS!

Ana: Holy SHAT! *starts collecting stars* -- Well, there you have it folks! ONE MILLION STARS for Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire. Love you some bad boy loving? Pick up this novel! BUT, if you’re a complete noob to JMcGuire, then you should totally pick of Beautiful Disaster FIRST! FIRST, FIRST, FIRST!

***THIS REVIEW WAS BROUGHT TO YOU BY: MEL & ANA BITCHES!***

*sings* lalalalala the boys are waiting lalalalala
Don’t forget to bring your milkshakes! The Maddox brothers will be coming to your yards ;)

Blog Update - New Reviewer

I've been thinking of adding another reviewer to my blog for awhile. I found an awesome one that I believe you all will love. Feel free to add her on her Twitter and Goodreads, she loves to chat with fellow book lovers. Here's a little bit of information about her.

Name: Drea

What are your favorite genres?
Historical Romance (Regency), Paranormal Romance, Urban Fantasy, YA, Erotic Romance

Least favorite genres?
Anything where romance isn't important.

Favorite authors?
Christina Dodd, Tessa Dare, Loretta Chase and Sabrina Jefferies, Larissa Ione, Kim Harrison, Rachel Caine

What kinds of stories do you like to read?
I like reading about romance, more specifically the romance chase. So I usually pick up books that have this. I also tend to rush through reading all of the action to get to the romance bits.

Books are an escape for me so another thing I look for is an unreal piece to the story. Reading about what could be happening to the girl next door doesn't interest me unless it involves something paranormal...or takes place in a time period I'm not living in.

I like strong females I can identify with (no goddesses or 800-year-old vampires) but I like stronger males (gods and 800-year-old vampires welcome!). I know it's awful but I love reading Alpha males who are a little obsessive, dominating and even on the edge of stalking.

And I like stories to make sense even if they include unbelievable elements. As in...characters shouldn't do things simply because its convenient for the plot.

Yes, I AM picky ;)

A little about Drea...
I live in the Midwest and work as a low rung manager over web nerds. I don't particularly like managing people but it pays the bills. *shrug* When I'm not working I'm reading, enjoying chocolate or cuddling with my cats and man. In other words, I'm your typical book nerd.

ISBN: 9781622661046
ASIN: B00CBFZVU6

Number of pages: 267

Book Description:
Nexi Jones—part witch, part guardian, and wannabe kick-ass warrior—can’t throw a punch or conjure the simplest magic. But that doesn’t stop her from hunting the werewolves who slaughtered her human family. She’ll have her revenge, but only if Kyden, the elite guardian, would get the hell out of her way.

Kyden can’t decide if Nexi wants to get herself killed or if she just has no clue what she’s doing. But her father made it clear: keep Nexi safe…or else. Of course, the more Nexi runs toward revenge, the more she needs Kyden’s aid, and as she grows into her power and confidence, so does his desire to protect her. The only problem? She’d rather he dropped dead.

But when a vampire paints a bull’s-eye on Nexi’s back, she’s hard-pressed to deny Kyden and the help he’s offering. Even if it means getting her revenge will be a little bit harder. At least it will still be as sweet.

Excerpt
I’ve found you, fur ball.

Nexi peered from behind the large oak tree and spotted the small log cabin nestled in the thick forest. The porch light cast a warm glow into the night. Fog settled over the lush grass, and the night was dark, eerie.

Stepping away from her hiding place behind the tree, she strode forward and gripped the dagger tightly in her hand. Keeping the silver blade pointed outward, she climbed the cabin’s porch steps, taking each one slowly to avoid detection.

Once she arrived at the front door, she wrapped her hand around the door handle. Rich hunger for revenge burned in her veins and made her intent on one thing: to slaughter the werewolf who escaped the night of her parents’ murder. Not caring what awaited her, she stormed inside, dagger pointed, ready to kill.

The simple cabin had two large brown couches near a wood-burning stove, a kitchenette behind the living room, and a quilt-covered bed resting in the back. And that was it; there were no other rooms to investigate. No secret hiding places she could see.

No damned werewolf.

She cursed, shut the front door behind her, then trotted down the steps to return to her hiding spot. On her way across the yard, she glanced at the space to the right of the tree, which looked much like a heat wave, indicating that the portal to the Otherworld remained.

In some places around the world—or the Earthworld, as supernaturals had called it—there were permanent portals to the supernatural realm. This portal had only appeared because Nexi had travelled to this cabin from the Otherworld. Once she passed through the portal again, the gateway would vanish.

Magic had its perks. Quick travel was one of them.

Nexi shook her head at how normal all this magical stuff seemed now. Just over a month ago she’d never believed in anything that went bump in the night. Now she knew all those things existed, and in fact, she was one of them.

To her horror, she had learned that her birth mother, Tillie, had been murdered by a power-hungry vampire, Lazarus.  All those years ago, her birth father, Drake, had protectively decided to block Nexi’s supernatural abilities. He had planned for her to live and die as a mortal. Now with her return to the Otherworld and the removal of the block on her true identity, there was no going back.

She was no longer plain, human, Nexi Jones.

She was Nexi Jones, part guardian, part witch.

Looking away from the portal and to her hiding spot until the werewolf returned, she hurried her steps. She wasn’t ready to return to the Otherworld yet. Not until she had the werewolf’s head as her wall ornament would she dare go home.

Just as she neared the tree, a woodsy scent that had nothing to do with the forest mixed with the citrusy aroma of aftershave. A blink of an eye later, the dagger she held was now at her throat, a hard body closed in on her back.

“You smelled lovely when you arrived.” The low voice by her ear held a faint English accent. “But I never imagined you’d be so pretty.”

The blade pressed into her skin, not drawing blood, but implying that if the werewolf chose, she’d be destined for the grave. “I’m…”

“Going to explain yourself.” He lowered the dagger, took hold of her arm, and jerked her forward.

In a few short strides, the werewolf tossed her through the threshold of the cabin, and slammed the door behind them. He sauntered to the couch, sat down, and regarded her. “Now then, darlin’.” His olive skin was stunningly flawless, and his chocolate-colored hair was spiked tall. “Why would a pretty lass like yourself plan to attack me?”

“Don’t move.” That charm wouldn’t fool her. “Stay right where you are.”

“My mouth is the only thing moving.” His slanted amber eyes raked over her. “Would you like me to stop talking?”

“No.” She hesitated then added, “Only your mouth can move. Nothing else. Tell me what you know.”
He gave her a long look. “I’d be glad to tell you anything you’d like, love.”

His kind face and soft voice wouldn’t trick her. He was a werewolf. She was certain, which was another oddity.

After the block on her supernatural abilities had been lifted, she could identify a supernatural creature as if knowing the difference between a brunette and a redhead. “Tell me why you killed my family.”

“That’s an interesting accusation.” He cocked his head, studying her with a frown. “But I think the more important question is who are you?”

She lifted her chin. “The lass who’s going to cut off your furry wolf balls.”
