Review: Third Grave Dead Ahead
Author: Darynda Jones
Buy: Amazon, B&N
Being a grim reaper isn't the easiest job, but Charley Davidson can handle it. While helping souls cross over, Charley also manages to do private investigator work that almost always puts her in danger. Taking on a case of a missing wife with a not so grieving husband instantly sparks intrigue into the story. I love a little bit of mystery/who-dun-it tossed into Urban Fantasy books, so this was right up my alley. Add in a biker gang, the son of Satan (aka Reyes) and a coffee addicted grim reaper and Third Grave Dead Ahead had me hurrying through the book so I could find out what would happen next.
Reyes Farrow, the Son of Satan, is in prison for killing his (human) adopted father. He enters the book several times and causes several steamy scenes. The majority of his parts are him and Charley trying to find someone. While reading, I realized why I enjoyed this book so much. The characters aren't picture perfect, especially Reyes, he is flawed and it made the story so much more interesting. While I haven't read the previous books in this series I had no issues knowing what happened and it was a breeze to follow. I highly suggest this series; it was one of the best books I've read this year.
