Review: Once Burned
Title: Once Burned
Author: Jeaniene Frost
Series: Night Prince #1
Leila, a performer in a traveling circus has unique powers that cause her to live a lonely life. She is unable to touch anyone without transferring an electric shock. This can be deadly if she is not cautious. That isn't the only reason people try to avoid her though. She is also able to touch objects and see their owner's past, present and future depending on how much of the owner's essence is left behind.
The book starts out with action and did not disappoint. Leila is kidnapped by vampire goons which she lovingly dubs Pervert, Psycho, and Twitchy. The goons are after information on where Vlad Tepesh (Dracula) is and will be in the future. While attempting to find that information out Leila is surprised to connect with Vlad and he comes to her rescue. Vlad whisks her away to his mansion and that is where things start to get interesting.
Their relationship starts with a bumpy distrust and grows to be smoking hot. For Jeaniene Frost readers, you are probably aware of what steamy scene that happens in Chapter 32 with Bones in One Foot in the Grave. Well Bones now has some competition, Vlad's scene in Chapter 23 is scorching hot.
The book wraps up in a way that left me happy but wanting more. The second book in the series will be released in Spring 2013, and it cannot come fast enough. This book is a must read if you like anything in this genre!
